Page of Swords Tarot card

Symbolism and Meaning

The Page of Swords is a card full of youthful energy, curiosity and intellectual vigour. It shows a young person standing on a windy hill, holding a sword at the ready. His stance is alert, as if he expects an attack or is watching for something on the horizon. The wind tousles his hair and chases the clouds, which symbolises the dynamism of thought and changing moods.

He is the archetype of "the Spy" or "the Researcher". The Page of Swords wants to know everything about everything. He is sharp, eloquent and direct. The sword is a tool of knowledge for him, but sometimes it is too heavy - which means that his intellectual ambitions may outstrip his experience. He is someone who asks lots of questions, loves debate and seeks the truth at any cost.

Today this card often symbolises digital communication: e-mails, social media, gathering information online (stalking). It may mean the arrival of a message that requires a quick reaction or intellectual engagement. The Page of Swords is also a warning against talking too much and judging too hastily.

It is a great time for learning, writing, gathering information and brainstorming.
