Page of Wands

New Messages, Enthusiasm and a Creative Impulse

Page of Wands Tarot card

Symbolism and Meaning

The Page of Wands (sometimes called the Knave or the Squire) is the messenger of the element of fire. The card shows a young person standing firmly on the ground, holding a large wand with both hands as it puts out fresh leaves. The figure's gaze is turned upwards, to the top of the wand, as if reading a message from it or admiring its potential. They wear a tunic in the colours of fire, decorated with salamanders - mythical creatures that live in fire.

This card symbolises "the spark" - a sudden idea, inspiration or message that ignites enthusiasm in us. The Page is the embodiment of youthful energy, curiosity about the world and readiness for adventure. It is not yet a fully formed plan (as in the Two), but a primal impulse that says: "Check it out! Do it!". The dry, desert background contrasts with the vitality of the wand, suggesting that a new idea can bring even a barren situation to life.

The Page of Wands heralds something new and exciting. It may be a literal message (a phone call, an e-mail) that pushes you to act, or an inner awakening of creativity. It is the energy of a free spirit who wants to explore, create and experience life without limits.

Interpretation of the Card
