Justice Tarot card

Symbolism and Meaning

After the dynamic rush of the Chariot, the Justice card forces us to stop and reflect. It represents cosmic law, karma and objective truth. The figure on the card sits between two pillars (like the High Priestess and the Hierophant), which means balance between logic and intuition. She wears no blindfold, because true justice must see everything in order to make the right judgement.

In her right hand she holds a sword pointing upwards - a symbol of logical thinking, intellect and a decision that is final and irreversible. The sword is double-edged, a reminder that every choice has consequences. In her left hand she holds scales on which she weighs evidence, deeds and intentions. Her purple veil symbolises compassion, but also the mystery of universal laws.

Justice teaches us to take responsibility for our own lives. It says: "You will reap what you sow". It is a card of cool calculation, facts and honesty. There is no room here for emotional excuses. If you have acted ethically, this card heralds a reward and a favourable verdict. If you have tried to cheat fate, justice will catch up with you.

Interpretation of the Card

In a spread, Justice often refers to official and legal matters, agreements and contracts. It heralds the moment when the truth will come to light. It may mean the need to make an important, impartial decision, or being judged by others. It is a call to be honest with yourself and those around you.
