Wheel of Fortune Tarot card

Symbolism and Meaning

The Wheel of Fortune is one of the most mysterious cards in the deck. It symbolises the constant movement of the universe, the cycles of nature and the forces we have no influence over. On the card we see a great wheel with figures placed around it: a serpent (Typhon - evil), a jackal (Anubis - the guide of souls) and a sphinx (mystery). In the corners of the card are the four creatures of the Apocalypse (angel, eagle, lion, bull), representing the four elements and the four fixed signs of the zodiac.

The wheel is a symbol of karma - the law of cause and effect. What is at the top will soon be at the bottom, and vice versa. The card reminds us that nothing lasts forever: neither happiness nor suffering. It is a lesson in humility before fate and in accepting change, which is the only constant in life.

When this card appears, it marks a turning point. It is the moment when fate steps into our plans. It may be a sudden stroke of luck, an unexpected meeting or an event that changes the course of history. The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that although we cannot control the wind, we can adjust our sails.

Interpretation of the Card

In a spread, the Wheel of Fortune is usually a herald of positive change, as long as we are ready to go with the flow. It suggests that a new cycle is coming, that old problems will resolve themselves, or that new opportunities will appear. It is the card of a "lucky break", of winning the lottery (literally or figuratively) and of destiny.
