Four of Wands

Celebration, Harmony and a Joyful Homecoming

Four of Wands Tarot card

Symbolism and Meaning

After the dynamic action and expansion seen in the previous cards, the Four of Wands brings a moment of well-earned rest and joyful celebration. It is one of the most positive cards in the Minor Arcana. It depicts a scene of welcome, a festival or a wedding. We see people enjoying the fruits of their work, dancing and celebrating a shared success.

The central element is a structure of four wands forming a kind of canopy (often associated with the Jewish wedding chuppah), decorated with garlands of flowers and fruit. It symbolises a stable home, abundance, fertility and security. The castle in the background confirms that solid foundations and stability in life have been achieved.

It is a card of "coming home" - both literally and metaphorically. It means finding your place on earth, a sense of belonging to a community and inner harmony. The fierce fire of the wands has been tamed here and turned into a warm, safe hearth where you can warm yourself and enjoy life.

Interpretation of the Card

In a spread, the Four of Wands heralds happy events. It often announces family celebrations such as weddings, christenings, engagements or simply big parties with friends. It may also point to the successful completion of an important stage of a project, moving into your dream home or achieving the financial stability you have longed for. It is a time of joy, relaxation and sharing your happiness with others.
