Three of Pentacles Tarot card

Symbolism and Meaning

The Three of Pentacles is a card of craftsmanship, professionalism and joining forces for a higher purpose. In the picture we see a young stonemason (a craftsman) working on the construction of a cathedral or temple. He stands on a bench and consults with two figures standing below: a monk (a symbol of spirituality and faith) and a nobleman or architect (a symbol of knowledge, plans and funding).

Three pentacles are set into the stone arch, symbolising permanence and the materialisation of spirit in matter. The most important message of this scene is synergy. None of the men could build a cathedral alone. It takes the physical strength and talent of the craftsman, the vision of the architect and the spiritual support of the monk. It is a tribute to teamwork, where everyone brings a unique value.

Unlike solitary study (the Eight of Pentacles), the Three speaks of social recognition. The stonemason's work is admired and appreciated by experts. It is a card of specialists, experts and people who strive for perfection in their profession. It means that you are on the right path to building something great and lasting.
